Full Of Crow Press And Distribution
I produce and manage Full Of Crow Press And Distribution, which is a non-profit press, producer, and distributor of independent web and print publications. Full Of Crow Press And Distribution includes many projects and sections in addition to Full Of Crow, the online literary magazine of poetry, fiction, flash, reviews, interviews, and more.
Under the “umbrella” of FOCPD is Fashion For Collapse, Blink Ink, The Chapbook Series, MUST Microzine, Spherezine, Corporeal Flux, and more. I produce (publish) the content, web and print. I am the general “go to” person for coordinating events, distribution, printing, fundraising, promotion, blogging, and more.
Many of the sections have editors who select the content for the section. Editors work autonomously, with their own submission guidelines and selection processes that they have available in the respective sections.Because of the nature of the editing, it is difficult to articulate what we look for, what our vision is collectively and precisely, who “we” are. We are a collective, each bringing skills and strengths to the table, each looking for different challenges, each responding to different inspiration and motivation.
Full Of Crow, in short, can be difficult to summarize. We share a love for creativity, a passion for words and art and for her makers- the writers and artists whose work we are honored to present in our spaces.
We work as a team, often with overlap, while trying to be mindful of and supportive of individual decisions and aesthetics in the context of collaboration. While it is true that I facilitate and coordinate Full Of Crow, we don’t look at our organization as hierarchical. Because of the nature of expansion and the coordination of tasks, it is difficult to work without a sense of answering to others or dictating. To the extent that we can, we try to share decisions and work in collaborative ways.
When viewed as a whole, given the many sections, it seems difficult to imagine a group of people trying to come together to accomplish things in a timely manner without a sense of authority- but the commitment to trying is a core value that is important to us and ultimately- fosters something more than “volunteering”. We hope that we continue to evolve and grow as a creative community. -Lynn Alexander
